Things Arizona Should Have.1

Today is a day that I really wish I was back home.  It's opening day today in Braves Country and I hate that I couldn't even watch the game to cheer them on.  I was the 10 year old girl with the battery powered radio that sat out in the front yard listening to every Braves game possible during the season.

I can still remember all the way back to 1995 when they won the World Series.  My dad was tomahawk chopping in our living room, and I'm pretty sure he ran out into the street screaming.  As if I didn't want to be at the opening game enough today, Georgia Southern's marching band was playing, which basically combines my two favorite teams to cheer on.  It'll be tough in the fall, not being able to visit the prettiest little stadium in America to cheer on the Eagles too.  Time to start saving some money.

It's interesting the things you start missing about home.  Baseball season wasn't too high on my list of things that I would miss, but now it's something that's making me wish for Atlanta traffic and summer nights spent chopping.  It also reminds me of Waffle House, which was already high on my list of "Things Arizona Should Have".

Oh Atlanta, how I miss you. Not enough to go back though. (at least just yet)!

Wishlist Wednesday:Home

Alright here's the deal: I am in a brand new state, brand new city, and a brand new apartment.  I have old as dirt furniture, minus my bed, which my parents bought me like three months ago. I've been doing the best I can to re-vamp some of my furniture and while it's coming together nicely (you'll see the final results soon) It's a lot of work for furniture that I don't especially love.  It's made me long for an Ikea a bit closer that Pheonix, which is four hours away.

I figured I would share with you some of the pieces I would love to have in my new apartment.

Do I have a microwave? Yes.
But is it oversized and black and completely not match everything else in my kitchen... yes. 

I am in love with the color of this gorgeous console table from Target. 

 

Is it surprising that I want matching side tables for the living room as well?  These are only ten bucks a piece and I believe I might just have to buy them, because I'm a bit tired of mismatched stuff. 

Okay, so this isn't necessarily my dream nightstand.  But I would love to just have a pair of matching nightstands, and these would work just fine. 

I've been using my patio as a work area lately, and I'm not the cleanest worker.  I am in need of a cute rug to cover up some of my paint.  Plus concrete is too cold for my feet!

Monday = random furniture redo... right?

So here is a picture of my living room, well a tiny portion of it at least.  I recently dyed my Ikea couch cover a bright yellow and have fallen in love.  What I am not in love with though, is how boring the chest looks compared to the bright yellow.  We found this chest in my basement and had plans to paint it at some point, but never got around to it.  With no work today and no plans it was time to paint!

Welcome to...

a corner of my home!

My home is more of a tiny apartment with too much stuff jammed in, but I love it all the same.  One particular area I love is my "office" or really my desk area.  For Christmas, Ben got me a sewing machine, which meant I had to find a space for it in my already teeny tiny desk area.  I moved some things around and viola! I now have a perfect desk area.  

One of my favorite aspects of this little area is that it has tons of storage space.  The two side drawers hold my t-shirts and shorts. In the future, when I have a bit more space for an actual dresser, I plan on filling them to the brim with art supplies and office supplies - pretty sure the paper doesn't enjoy being tucked away under the bed.  The center piece was originally supposed to be a TV stand, but the TV looked a little silly there and Ben eventually helped me to mount it to the wall.  All three pieces are covered in maps - some printed off the internet and some bought.  Overall it adds a lot of color to the area, which I love!  

My newest love for this area is the little desk organizer that we built. Recently while browsing etsy, I saw a gorgeous desk organizer that I just had to have... too bad it was $175.  Not really in my budget to organize my scissors and pencils.  We decided that we could make something similar and set off to Lowe's to purchase our supplies.  Now I'm not the most patient person, anyone can tell you that.  When I realized we were going to have to glue multiple pieces of wood together and let them sit before we got to the fun stuff... I was not pleased.  So I decided I would make one out of square dowels (are they still called dowels if they're square?) It was an interesting adventure trying to put it together and make it work, but the end result is just what I wanted!

So there is a tiny corner of my home.  Hopefully with this new space I'll get to work on finding a job!
