Oh look I match!

So I am awful at mailing things.  AWFUL. One weekend I wrote my family all letters, it took me three weeks to send them.  I have been telling Ben that he had an Easter basket in the mail for a while now, so he should be on the look out.  I went and bought the stuff today... oops. 

Some might say I'm a bit crazy, but one of my favorite parts of my new home is that it has a Target.  You don't realize how much you love Target until you live in Statesboro for 2.5 years. Every time we would venture to Savannah a Target trip was a must.  Walmart is fine and everything, but it's not the same.  So back to story, I went to Target to grab some Easter supplies.  I was pretty sure he didn't want stuffed animals or all of the usual Easter items, strange right? So I headed to my absolute favorite sections - the clearance sections.  It's my favorite part of every store. I was able to pick him up a bunch of small things that I know he needs... mostly because they're things I took when I left.  

While browsing through all the lovely finds I came across some lamp shades.  (This is where the post gets really boring, because yes it is about lamp shades.) I am a sucker for a pretty lamp.  You would know that if you had been in my home where there are currently 5 lamps... my place is not that big ya'll.  This also leads me to be a sucker for a pretty lamp shade.  So I bought two very pretty shades and now I'm going to show you them, because they're pretty and they were $6 which is less than an ugly lamp shade. 

Yeah, you've probably seen them in Target yourself.  No biggy.  But I'm just excited because now I have MATCHING, somewhat, lamps!

Also other than my lamp shades matching, this happened:

He's very hard to photograph, being just a big ball of black fur.  My black shorts and t-shirt did not help the situation.  If you can't make it out, it's my little Blu-bird just cuddling away on my lap.  Love him. Makes me happy coming home to my sweet kitties. 

So that's my Thursday afternoon in a nutshell.  Oh the fire alarm also went off approximately 3 minutes before students are dismissed today. It was fun...

Thrifty

So I've been a college graduate for over a month.  While I have a job - Einsteins - I only work there at night.  So until about 4:45 everyday, unless I am subbing, I am hanging out at the house.  Last week was pretty good, I kept myself busy with activities and projects.  This week is not so good.  I am beyond antsy.  So today, after watching House Hunters for way too long I finally put on some pants and ventured out into the real world.

Where did I go you ask?
Well of course I went to Goodwill, other than Walmart, it's basically the only place I visit frequently.

While I didn't have too much luck overall, I found these adorable little mugs!  (I have to admit I'm a bit of a hoarder collector when it comes to cute mugs - I don't even drink coffee!)

I love these mugs and actually picked up a total of 4!  Now the only problem is seeing how I can fit them into my cabinets... Something tells me I'm going to need a bigger space.

In other news... can you tell perhaps what my favorite color lately has been...

Monday = random furniture redo... right?

So here is a picture of my living room, well a tiny portion of it at least.  I recently dyed my Ikea couch cover a bright yellow and have fallen in love.  What I am not in love with though, is how boring the chest looks compared to the bright yellow.  We found this chest in my basement and had plans to paint it at some point, but never got around to it.  With no work today and no plans it was time to paint!

Apply, apply, apply

I feel like my life right now consists of applying for jobs and working on the quilt.  So not a fun vacation.  If anyone wants to send a teaching position my way, go for it!

Only positive aspect of this:  I get to spend lots of time with my kitty boys who love to attack my hair :)

oh hello blog...

Well it certainly appears that student teaching took up a good bit of my time this semester. Seeing as how my blog seems to have been a bit abandoned.
But, as of yesterday I am a college graduate and perhaps that will mean I have more time for the blogging world.  Speaking of graduation, I cannot believe that the semester has already come and gone.  It went by far too quickly for my liking.  I have been on the hunt for a job since about mid October, so please keep your fingers crossed.  Until I find that perfect job I get the pleasure of continuing to work at Einsteins and substituting.  Not the ideal situation, but it will keep the bills paid and kittens fed.  I am excited about the possibility of having some more free time in the future, more time for cuddles, cooking, and perhaps some blogging :)

My life for the past few months has pretty much consisted of school, school work, work, and a little bit of Ben time.  Here are the highlights:

It has been a fun few months even if I thought I was going to die of sleep deprivation at times.  I am ready to take on the world now!

I am a total slacker, but in my defense I've worked almost every day this week at one job or the other. But here's my week in the few pictures from my phone!

Blu spent his day helping out with craft projects and curling up on our laps. 

I'm not sure how any household can handle life without animals, my kitten babies cheer me up on my worst day and are always there for a good cuddle.  Today has been an extremely relaxing day and I plan on continuing with this relaxing feel by watching Battlestar Galactica and eating peach cobbler mess (more on that another day!)
